Early this morning, we headed out for the Farmers' Market and parade. We had debated whether or not to take Linus's bike or just the wagon. And so begins the story.
You see, on the greenway, we usually let Linus really get going on his bike. There's no concern for traffic and a nice open road. This time, though, Linus really tested his speed racing down the first big hill while the grown-ups (and Baby E) lagged behind. Suddenly, Linus swerved dramatically off to the left and disappeared into trees.
Fearing the worst (there's a pretty significant,10 foot drop-off, water-filled ravine a few feet off the greenway), Daddy took off running. Here's where the 'Crash and Burn' comes into play. Daddy, in his panic, was moving at top speed when he lost control of his feet, tumbled down, and skidded along the asphalt.
Linus, lying in shock underneath his bike in the weeds, ended up being alright. Daddy, on the other hand, suffered a pretty severe case of road rash. Luckily, I was able to calm everyone's frazzled nerves, assess injuries, and adjust the wagon's load to fit another passenger.
We forged ahead, a bit shell-shocked, taking in the parade not from the slightly mangled Strider bike, but from the comfort and safety of the wagon.
