Today is Day 12 of the 30 Days of Truth project. You can find an explanation and all the other posts from this series here.
Day 12 - Something you never get compliments on.
Despite being a lyrical master, I never get compliments on my insane knowledge of song lyrics.
Flip the radio on, click past one of those late-at-night music compilation advertisements, or play Rock Band with me, and you'll quickly find I can sing along with most anything.
No, I won't be able to tell you how I know the song or even the title or artist, but I can sing along.
And, this talent isn't just limited to the chorus. I can often follow along word for word with all of the verses. Often I don't even know the words until they are flying out of my mouth.
It's quite a strange talent since we didn't actually have VH-1 or MTV growing up -- the city council seemed to believe it would steal the souls of the children. Of course, when I'd visit my Amma and Gammie in the big city, I'd spend hours a day rotting my brain on Pop-up Video (at least when I wasn't getting my fill of the also-banned Nickelodeon.)
It's an odd talent that a girl raised on Beatles and the Oldies (50's 60's) station can sing-along with almost all of the one hit wonders of the 80's. I mean, I was 12 when the 90's began.
It kind of makes me worry for what lyrical seeds, I'm planting in Linus's brain. Seeds that will one day grow into full grown how-the-hell-do-you-know-this-song trees.
I can only imagine one day when he's in his 30's he'll be flipping past the oldie's station and will be unable to not sing along with this week's favorite song.
Also, like his mommy, I'm pretty sure Linus won't be getting any compliments on his singing or dancing abilities anytime soon. Good thing he has those eyes.

Abby!! You just made our night - Seth & I laughed so hard at this, especially enjoying the part where he took a little breather from the action. This song is always stuck in my head & I constantly hear Wyatt singing it too - maybe our next playgroup shall be a dance party!!
My favorite part is when he looks up at the end and says "again".
I'm EXHAUSTED watching him! Good grief!
This is fantastic, I LOVE it!
That video? Just made my whole day. Seriously, there hasn't been much smiling today, and now I feel MUCH better. Thanks, Linus!
Also: love the stripey jammies, the rest breaks and your adorable kitchen! Dy-NO-mite!
Love his moves -- and the pjs. Also glad to know I'm not the only person who has a laptop computer perilously close to the kitchen sink.
