30 Days of MEme- Forgiving Myself (Day 3)

I forgive myself for not writing this post. Does that count?

Today is Day 3 of the 30 Days of Truth. (You can read the first two days here and here.) Today's topic: Something I have to forgive myself for.

Today was a day of self-indulgence. I used Linus's preschool time to attend to some retail therapy.

Yup, I bought some black glitter pumpkins at Michael's for $4 each. Awesome, since four years later, I still have the glitter and faux pumpkins I was going to use to do it myself. I also bought a few 29 cent pieces of felt so I can make another circle garland (like the one I made for my SIL's baby shower). This one will be going on my Christmas tree or mantle depending on how long I make it. Plus I finally found a frame for my John W. Golden print. I can't wait to hang it on the door to CARPETED upstairs. (If you haven't heard about John Golden, check out his Etsy shop. He's an NC artist whose art has even been sold by Land of Nod.)

After my good luck at the craft store, I headed over to Marshall's. Let's just suffice it to say that my luck continued. A new coat for Linus, a jacket for me, a sweater for Linus, a sweatshirt for me, and even socks for the hubby were all in my shopping cart.

Sometimes, I just need a little retail therapy -- especially after yesterday.

For my splurges and indulgences, I forgive myself. That was easy.

PS- I wasn't paid to for any of this. It's just the truth of the day plain and simple.

We must have just missed each other - I was in the same area retailing it myself.

I completely agree- retail therapy definitely has it's time and place. You reminded me that I need to hit up the stores for Halloween discounts! I just gave a big box of planned but not even touched projects to Goodwill and learned my lesson.

Oooh--I love the felt garland. Instructions, please!

I can always justify my purchases, as they are FEW and FAR between these days. Budget: boo. Glad you got to get out and enjoy some shopping!

Atta girl. A little retail therapy can be JUST what you need. And it's especially nice on sale.

Please tell more about the garland--it looks so classy and colorful! Is there a book or a site you used to create it?

Nice work on the Meme so far!

Here ya go Corrie and Jana - I saw the idea over at the Purl Bee (http://www.purlbee.com/new-years-garland/) and it is SUPER easy. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be making another one. Minimal sewing skills (sewing a straight-ish line) are all that's really required.

Thank you for the link! I actually have had a chance to work on the garland in the past week--I'm so impressed. A wonderful idea--thank you for sharing! :)

@Jana, I'm SO glad you had a chance to try it. I just made one for myself this weekend with 20 sheets of felt and several blisters. It's super long and I can wait to hang it for Christmas.
