When I first became a stay-at-home mom, my husband suggested I find a hobby to focus some of my energy and creativity on as I had given up a career that required immense amounts of energy and creativity. I guess he was concerned about the likely helicopter mom I would become if my energies were directed only at Linus. (Which was definitely a smart move on his part.) So, at his suggestion, I started blogging.
Blogging led to other social media. Social media led to other hobbies and those hobbies led to others.
And now, I have so many hobbies, I can't keep up. I became exactly what I accused him of being: a project starter. These days, in our attic right alongside my husband's lure tying kit (he doesn't even fish, people), you'll find fabric for a never made blanket, a jump rope from a weird exercise phase, cans of spray paint purchased for a home project, and lots of little onesies just waiting to be adorned.
Of course, instead of forcing myself to narrow down my focus, I have instead added yet another hobby to the list. Now, not only do I bake, sew, stamp, and home decorate, I also want to learn to take photographs and not just snapshots.
And my husband, well, he's an enabler.
Now, how the heck do I use this thing? Guess I better get started because I think he'd be really peeved if this ended up in the attic next to the fabric scraps and blank canvases.

This made me giggle--especially the part about the husband as enabler!
I am afraid I am in the same boat with you Abby. Only think is I am not sure who he really bought the camera for....I still haven't studied the thing yet! Terry B.
Oh that is so fun! I'm with you on the hobbies...I have knitting, sewing, and painting all over my office. Someday I'll find the time...I think :)
Now that the holidays are over we need to meet up again at Marbles or I need to FINALLY get the kids to the museum near you.
