Try, Try Again

I'm was starting to get excited nervous about the upcoming Type-A Mom Conference, so I decided to check in with my friend and conference roomie, Marty.

Here's what I tweeted her:

And here's what she responded:

Well, crap. During all my self-centered, I don't know what I'm going to wear, will people like me, nobody's gonna know who I am panics, I never once thought about leaving my boys with some frozen home-cooked meals.

I guess I won't be receiving that 'Mom of the Year' award this year after all. Maybe next year.

I view this as the fact that you trust your hubby to feed your child something other than peanut butter. You have already been mom of the year, thereby leaving your boys completely prepared to be on their own ;)

Now, I'm off to freak out about what I'll wear.

You know, I applaud you for that self-centeredness! Every time I leave I prepare dinner for my men before going to book club to eat with my friends. But when Mr. D goes to poker, I'm supposed to prepare dinner. So where's the fairness in that? I wish I could just do my thing and presume they'll figure out how to eat on their own in my absence!

I agree with Marty -- it's a good sign. Wish I were coming along for the fun! Instead, I'll be home alone with the little people while my husband is camping with the guys. At least I get to sleep in my own bed and don't have to worry about bears ;)
