Yesterday was a very frustrating day. Despite Linus being referred by our pediatrician for a speech evaluation, despite that evaluation determining that he could use a little therapy to jump start his verbal expressive communication, and despite having the best insurance available through my husband's company, our insurance company deems speech therapy to be "not covered". I could go on and on about how frustrated this makes me, but I'm tired of thinking about it. Instead I'm going to focus on more positive things. Here are a few things that have brought a smile to my face lately.
1. Linus is beginning to label pictures he draws. In his most recent crayon masterpiece, he has repeatedly pointed to the blue scribbles on the page and exclaimed, "A-a-a". Of course if you're not fluent in Linus-speak, this means sheep. He then took a red crayon, worked diligently, and proclaimed, "Unk, unk" or "oink" (the more generally accepted onomatopoeia). He had drawn a pig.
2. In addition to his affinity for crayon drawing, Linus enjoys drawing on the sidewalk with "awk" (chalk). We've even found that running out in between the frequent Spring showers relieves a lot of the cabin fever and makes for bright and often Monet-like masterpieces.
3. Last but not least, the ultimate childhood pasttime is also being enjoyed by Linus, Bert, and Ernie and no fewer than 4 mini cars.
And, as long us I'm photo-happy, check out my latest bloggy giveaway score. I won this adorable Fat Tie t-shirt over at Meghan's Mindless Mutterings.
Those are just a few of the things that have made me smile lately. What's brought a smile to your face this week?

Linus and his tie certainly brought a smile to gramma B's face! Love it!!
I love that shirt -- and those curls are gorgeous! Not sure if you're in Wake or Durham or Orange, but if you're in Wake, Project Enlightenment can be a great resource -- but you probably already know that.
So sorry that insurance is being a pain. It sounds like there might be services for him yet - I wish I knew more!
And that tie shirt! Adorable!
Oh, and my chair fabric is the cheapest thick tablecloth I could find at Kohl's - it was a bit of a last-minute project that I needed to finish that day so I could use the chair again. How's the piano bench?
Aw! I love the picture of him with thumb in mouth. He is so adorable.
Dang, he's cute. So very very cute. He just brought a smile to my face this week :)
What a handsome devil in that shirt!!!!!!
