Next He'll Be Running Marathons

Linus is definitely checking off his personal list of milestones. It seems every day he can do something new. Some of his latest achievements:

  • Pulling himself to standing: He will use our arms as support and pull himself up then proceed with his Elvis hip-shaking, hula hooping balancing act.
  • Travel by rolling: When he sees something he wants, he can roll his way over to it. If he has to turn a corner, he will do a half roll with a twist to redirect himself.
  • Travel by rolling (part 2): He loves to take rides on this cow-car thing we have. I push him around the house while he just gazes at the world from a different point of view. Which leads us to...
  • Voice his opinion: When I try to remove Linus from the cow-car because my legs and back are aching, he will throw a fit to be put back on. Luckily, he is still rather easily distracted, and the cow can be relocated out of view.
  • Feed himself: Using his teething mesh feeder, Linus is able to suck bananas on his own. At first, he will try to get you to hold it for him but with a little finagling, he will hang onto it himself.
  • Voice his opinion (part 2): Try to take the feeder away and hysterics ensue.
  • The Worm: He can move forward short distances by hoisting his butt in the air and then pushing his upper body forward. This is usually reserved for things just out of reach.
  • Touch and Feel: Linus can certainly grab anything and everything. During our trip to the world's smallest Whole Foods, Linus was threatening to pull items off the shelves. His very frazzled mother was offered assistance no less than 3 times.
  • Understanding gravity: Yes, he knows the best way to get from sitting to laying is to fall over. Now, if only he could figure out that not all surfaces are cushioned.
  • Terrorizing friendly beasts: Kicking and pulling fur have long been checked off but imagine the terror on the kitty faces when a baby on a cow came speeding at them. Pure FEAR!
On his list of "still working on":
  • Banging pots and pans: He has the supplies but prefers to just put the pot handles in his mouth.
  • Crawling: He will get on his knees occasionally but he quickly flattens back out.
  • Not pulling hair: My head can't wait for this mastery.
  • Swallowing his own saliva: Yep, he's still a drool factory.
The little man just keeps going... and going... and going. (I couldn't resist.)
