My Super Sonic Hero

I am an addict of Sonic. However, unlike the Midwest, North Carolina is not blessed with one (or more) in every town of 1,000-plus. There isn't a single one in Durham, a city of 450,000. And... there is only one, yes, one in the entire Triangle area. That's 1.5 million people who must rely on just one Sonic. Sad.

Because our nearest Sonic is a 30+ minute drive down the interstate and located in a town with not much else to attract us, it is a special treat to go.

But then a hero rose up out of the dust and he made Cherry Limeades and Root Beer Flurries (i.e. Blended Floats). Yes, Adrian has once again proven his worth as a husband by providing his wife with Sonic replicas. (I won't mention that it was as easy as Googling "Sonic Cherry Limeade Recipe".) They are divine!

Now if only he had figured this out when I was pregnant, we could have saved a lot of gas money. Oh well, maybe I'll have to keep him around for a little longer after all.

Recipes We Used:

  • Root Beer Flurry- He actually had to wing it on and figure out the recipe by himself, so he does deserve props for that. It goes like this: one Tupperware child's cup full of ice (8 oz.), two scoops vanilla ice cream, and half a 16oz. bottle of root beer. Put all in the blender and go!

Dairy Queens are also a rare bird. Luckily, God smiled upon us and put one within walking distance of our house.

Did you use Slice or Sprite? Grenadine or cherry syrup?

We used Sprite and grenadine b/c they were easily accessible. I would like to try the other way to see if it is even better. Oh, and we just used ReaLime (sp?) in the plastic lime instead of limes for the same reason.
