30 Days of MEme- Heroic Disappointments

Today is Day 14 of the 30 Days of Truth project. You can find an explanation and all the other posts from this series here.

Day 14 A hero that has let you down. (letter)

Dear Wednesday Jane,

When I was a little girl, I read Peter Pan. I watched the Disney version again and again. I just loved the story it weaved for me.

A mother with three beautiful and cooperative children. Children whose worst behavior was a desire to be told stories again and again. These weren't children who were being too loud or playing too boisterous. They were perfectly well-mannered children.

In the story, there is also a mother. A mother loved and adored by her children.  A patient, kind, and beautiful person.

This, the story led me to believe, was -obviously- due to a wonderful family pet. A pet who not only played with and protected the children, but also one who acted as their nanny so mother could go to parties in the evenings.

Let me tell you, Wednesday. Somewhere deep down inside of me, I hoped that this would be what motherhood was like, what pet ownership was like. A serene and pleasant life in which children played a supporting role in making it all that much more fabulous while rarely ever being troublesome. A life where the family pet would share in the burden of raising the children.

Wednesday, it seems to me that you are not living up to your potential. At this time, we have one crazy three year old who your limited interactions with seem only to taunt. You dangle your tail in front of his face and then zip down the hallway until he gives chase. THIS is not helpful. This is not a proper J.M. Barrie family pet role. It seems that the hundreds of dollars that I have spent on kitty crunchies, mouse toys, and veterinarian visits have been a waste.

Wednesday, it is time that you step up to the plate so to speak and begin taking on more of a partnership role. You have known this kid as long as we have, you are perfectly capable of tending to his needs.

This will be the last time I will speak to you in regards to this issue. If your negligent behavior continues, I will have to seek further action of the woof-woof kind. As it seems to have worked out perfectly for Mrs. Darling.

Yours truly,
Abby

PS- The least you could do is bother to get the stupid fly that is buzzing around my head. What good are you anyway?

Is that seriously a real word or did you make it up? Either way, I LOVE it and will now try to use it in a sentence every day this week.
