Personal Art Museum

Around our house, we're big on art. We finger paint, watercolor, collage, and, of course, color. We have lots of creations to display.

Here's a cute little project that I created for Linus's room to display all his masterpieces.

It's really easy to make. I simply picked up a few cheap hardboard clipboards from a standard office supply store. Using a can of orange spray paint (the same color as his crib and changing table), I applied two coats of paint allowing ample drying time between. One thing to not forget is to tie the clipping mechanism open during the application so it doesn't end up glued shut. Once the two coats were dry, I removed the tie and touched up the unpainted spot left behind. Once entirely dry, I enlisted my handiman (aka my husband) and he secured them to the wall with screws through the top and bottom. With only about an hour's total work and $10, I have a really fun way to display Linus's art or other papers.

What I like best about this display is that it is in his room where he can admire his accomplishments. Also, it is at a lower height allowing him to change what is displayed based on what he's proud of. Instead of my deciding what's worthy of display (or in the future simply choosing "A" papers), he's in charge.

Plus, the additional POP! of orange in his blue room satisfied my design sensibilities while also freeing up the fridge exterior for grocery lists and menu ideas.

You know the saying "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"? It's true. And I will be adding this to my list of things to "imitate" from Aunt Abby. :) Thanks!

This is a cool idea, Abby! I've got a few of A's pictures that I want to put on the fridge, but honestly, there is not much space, and she can't see them very well. I think I will steal this idea! Thanks.
