The Real World

What the news sounds like in a household with a two year old...

"The federal government is hoping that companies in this country will help in the fight against..." Maaaaaaahhhhhhhhmmmm. Dadadadadadadadada. Wooooooo. Woo, woo, woo.

"In Afghanistan today, scattered violence and Taliban's threats are keeping some voters away from the polls. Plenty of others are..." Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

"This August the debate over how to fix America's health care system just keeps heating up. Republicans and Democrats disagree..." Ki-ki, ki-ki, Ninnie-Nane. Meow. Meow. Ninnie-Nane.

"Over the last 20 years, American agriculture has become..." Mo-mo. Mo-mo bistit. Mo-mo bistit peas.

It's no wonder I have no idea what's going on in the world around me anymore. I'm lucky to just know what my husband's voice sounds like.

In case you are interested in getting the non-toddler version, these stories are all from today's Morning Edition on NPR.

That's so funny...and so true! I gave up watching evening news and just get most of my news from the internet news websites now. Someday I will be able to watch the news in silence again and I will miss those nagging voices.

My kids are always interrupting the best newsbits on NPR--I've ALMOST got them trained to shut the hell up when Frank Deford is on--but it took like 2 years of me yelling!
