Rhythm of the Night

There is an eerie sound haunting the surround of my house. A sound not unknown though frightening in its regularity. This sound, though not mysterious, evokes fear in my very soul. It is as though Edgar Allen Poe himself sits in my dining room scribbling out prose. This sound isn't coming from the floorboards. It is coming from the small one's bedroom, and it is the sound of a beating heart.

All through the night it thump, thump, thumps. It's regular rhythm soothing the toddler in his sleep.

This incessant beating that creates bone chilling ambience is what we get for trying to push cardiology on an almost two year old. Teaching him about the heart has lead to this new preference in white noise, and it is creepy.

I concur...the beating heart was a little creepy. However, it helps him sleep and is therefore worth the heebie jeebies. :)
