Little Rascal

I thought at this age, they were all innocence and sweetness. That was, until I caught him. No, it wasn't the folded clothes this time (see below pic), it was food.

At lunch, Linus and I are enjoying a delicious meal of tortilla pizzas, edamame, and peaches. Noticing that Linus's tray is empty of food, I place a few bites of edamame on it. Returning to my own meal, I'm interrupted by Linus's grunts for more food. In disbelief, I see that the edamame is gone. I check the floor. Not there. I assume he's really hungry although it usually takes him some time to gum the edamame. I place a few bites of pizza on his tray and again return to my meal. Out of the corner of my eye, I see his little fist gathering up all the pieces I had just placed there. Carefully, he slides his hand down in the gap between the booster seat and his body and returns empty handed. Peeking down into the gap, I am shocked to see the few pieces of pizza are stashed along with an entire serving of edamame.

That kid definitely knows what he wants and how to get it. Today, he wanted peaches.

I don't even want to imagine what I'm in for when he is older and sneakier. I definitely won't be one of those parents I had meetings with who would say, "My child NEVER tells lies." I'll certainly know better.
