A few items of note as Linus continues the journey to toddler-dom...
- We believe that now he is not just understanding the sign for milk but also using it. I've been wondering for a while if he wasn't making it, but as the sign is a squeezing fist (something many babies just do) we weren't sure. The other night, however, it seemed pretty obvious as he was staring at the bottle we had put down while squeezing his fist. Strangely, he made the sign with his left hand. No, he's probably not left-handed. We attribute it to him mimicking us... a mirror image.
- Linus may not need Mommy to help him sit up for much longer. He is beginning to do it himself. While Daddy and Mommy were doing some chores around the house, Linus was rolling around on the floor in his room. When Daddy checked on him, he noticed he was sitting up. Of course, he assumed I had assisted him in sitting up but thought he should check. Busy making the bed, I had checked on him but not sat him up. So, we had to come to the conclusion that either Linus sat up himself or Wednesday had helped him up.
- He is timidly attempting to take steps while standing with us holding his hands. You can really see the gears turning when he tries.
- He's discovered that one of the spindles on his crib can spin. The squealing of spinning wood now lets us know when nap time has ended.
- He's also maybe said his first word. Hopefully, not really, but he made this sound the other day (win-nay) just as Wednesday walked in the room. It will really be a blow to his parents' self-esteem if his first word does end up being the stupid cat. On reflection, it's probably the word he hears most, as we're constantly scolding her.
