Santa's Little Helpers

We've had a busy weekend. We started Saturday morning with a hearty breakfast at Elmo's then it was off to the tree lot to pick out some garland. It was then Adrian's job to adorn the front door with garland and lights. As you can imagine, this involved several words that should not be repeated on a G-rated blog. The results were beautiful and, although it felt like an eternity to Adrian, took less than an hour.

It was then off to spread more holiday cheer with Abby cooking up some toffee and the family strolling downtown to see the Durham Holiday Parade. If you've never attended the Durham parade, as we hadn't, it is quite a sight to behold. The parade made it appear (and maybe it's true) that white people in Durham are insane.

On another note, this Christmas we have begun an Elser-family tradition for Linus. The tradition is that one of Santa's elves (in our case, a set of twin elves) comes to visit our house the day after Thanksgiving. The elves sneak around the house every few days finding new hiding places and keeping a watchful eye on children's behavior. The elves make regular reports back to headquarters. Finally, on Christmas Eve, the elves return to the North Pole when the good boys and girls receive a visit from the big man. See if you can spot the elves hiding in Linus's bedroom.

You watch Big Love! Awesome! Jonathan absolutely detests it, but I'm obsessed.

Are the elves on the lights or something? It's difficult to see. That's a fun tradition, though.
